SIK SORULAN SORULAR

Philippines: frequently asked questions

When should I visit the Philippines?
December-April is the dry season and the best period. June-November is typhoon season; it doesn't rain every day but there's a typhoon risk, so follow PAGASA warnings. For an island holiday and diving, pick the dry season.
Is the Philippines safe?
The areas tourists visit (Manila's Makati/BGC, Cebu, Palawan, Bohol, Siargao) are largely safe. Western Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago are not on the tourist route. Standard snatch/scam awareness is enough in the city; the real risks are natural (typhoons, currents).
Is the Philippines expensive?
No, it's an affordable country. The mid-range daily budget is around $90-95 per person; street food and local transport are very cheap, while island tours and domestic flights raise the budget.
Manila or Cebu?
Manila is for city energy, history (Intramuros) and nightlife; Cebu is for island adventures, waterfalls, diving and lechon. Ideally combine both: 2-3 days in Manila + 4-5 days in and around Cebu.
Can I travel the Philippines without eating pork?
Yes, but it takes care — lechon (pork) and various meat dishes are common. Seafood, chicken (adobo/inasal) and vegetable dishes are plentiful; at carinderias it's practical to ask about ingredients and lean toward chicken/fish.
How is the SIM card in the Philippines?
Globe and Smart airport tourist SIMs are set up in minutes and cheap. If you set up GCash (mobile payment), QR payments open up too. Smart's coverage is slightly better on the southern islands.
