Do not choose a balloon tour on price alone. Flights require the day’s aviation clearance, and weather cancellations are normal. Before booking, check the operator, insurance, stated flight duration and transfer terms rather than relying on unusually cheap, vague packages.
scamNormal travel precautions are appropriate in the main tourist areas. More practical risks are loose or slippery valley paths, summer sun and winter ice. Stay on marked trails, avoid isolated valleys alone after dark and take weather changes seriously. The emergency number is 112.
safetyTap water is treated, but its taste and mineral content may be unfamiliar to visitors; sealed bottled water is widely used for drinking. Carry water before entering valley trails because there may be nowhere to buy it en route. Sun protection matters in summer, while winter calls for footwear suited to icy ground.
