Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu
Founded in 1565, this basilica is regarded as the Philippines' oldest Catholic church. It brings together the revered Santo Niño image and one of Cebu's strongest living religious traditions.
Magellan's Cross
This octagonal chapel beside the basilica recalls the 1521 baptisms associated with the beginnings of Christianity in Cebu. As well as the cross, look up at the historic paintings on the ceiling.
Fort San Pedro
This compact stone fort near Cebu's port is one of the clearest surviving traces of the Spanish colonial era. You can walk the ramparts and visit the garden and small museum in a short stop.
Cebu Taoist Temple
Set in the hills of Lahug, this colorful Chinese-style complex combines dragon motifs, quiet courtyards and broad city views. Respect the photography rules in the worship areas.
Temple of Leah
Built in Busay as a memorial to a beloved wife, this Greco-Roman-inspired monument is one of Cebu's most photogenic stops, with grand columns and terraces overlooking the city.
TOPS Cebu
The revamped viewpoint complex on the Busay ridge delivers a 360-degree panorama over Cebu City and Mactan. The transition from sunset to the city lights is the highlight.

Cebu Lechon
Crisp skin, aromatic and juicy meat.Cebu's signature whole roast pig is stuffed with lemongrass, garlic and aromatics, then slowly turned over charcoal. The best bite combines brittle skin with juicy meat, and the Cebuano version is flavorful enough that a heavy sauce is often unnecessary.
Puso (Hanging Rice)
Cebu's everyday rice, woven in coconut leaves.Rice is boiled inside a small pouch woven from young coconut leaves. Easy to carry and eat without a plate, it is one of Cebu's most distinctive everyday partners for street barbecue and lechon.
Cebu Ngohiong
A crisp five-spice Cebu street classic.Born from the meeting of Chinese and Visayan food traditions, ngohiong is a crisp roll filled with vegetables and sometimes meat, seasoned with five-spice. In Cebu, its dark, punchy dipping sauce is part of the experience.
Tuslob Buwa
Dip the puso straight into the bubbling pan.The name roughly means 'dip in bubbles.' Pork brain and liver are cooked with garlic, onion and seasoning until they form a thick, bubbling gravy, then pieces of puso are dipped into the hot pan and shared around the table.
Tisa-style Siomai
A neighborhood dumpling with chili and garlic.These small steamed dumplings are closely associated with the Tisa neighborhood and are best eaten with plenty of chili-garlic sauce and calamansi. They are simple, inexpensive and a very Cebu way to take a quick snack break.
Sutukil Seafood
One fresh catch, three Cebuano preparations.Sutukil is less a single dish than a way of ordering seafood: a fresh catch can be grilled as sugba, simmered as tuwa and vinegar-cured as kilaw. Around Mactan, it is one of the clearest expressions of Cebu's seafood culture.

What to know before you go.
Tourist traps, SIM, money, taxis, safety, health, transit and language — the city in eight answers.
Avoid vehicles around the airport or tourist sights that quote a fixed fare without turning on the meter. At Mactan-Cebu International Airport, use the official taxi queue or Grab; when the fare is shown in the app, there is no need to bargain. In a regular taxi, make sure the meter is running before you set off.
scamIT Park and the Cebu Business Park/Ayala area are generally easy to navigate. In crowded downtown areas such as Colon and Carbon, keep a closer eye on your phone and wallet, especially after dark, and avoid poorly lit side streets. For longer trips late at night, Grab is more comfortable than walking.
safetyMCWD tests the public water supply against Philippine drinking-water standards, but storage tanks and plumbing can vary from building to building. For a short stay, sealed bottled water or water from a reputable refill station is the simpler choice. In Cebu's heat, carry water and avoid scheduling your longest walks at midday.
healthCebu does not have one citywide transport card that works on every service. Cash remains the standard on traditional jeepneys; some modern jeepneys, buses and ferries accept beep, Maya or other cashless systems, but acceptance varies by operator. Keep small peso notes and coins with you.
cardCebuano, often called Bisaya locally, dominates everyday conversation; English is widely understood and is enough for most visitors. “Salamat” means thank you and “palihug” means please. Tagalog is also understood by many people.
